Carlo Leoni was born in 1965 in Rome, where he still lives and works.
In 2002 he began his experience in the field of video art, first with analog technology before moving recently to digital HDV creating various works dedicated to the study of light and the contextualization of the individual within society with obvious influences from Post Human-Art.
The human element is part of a much broader conceptual vision and expresses the relationship between man and society, from birth through his evolution, in an attempt to overcome the limitations and constraints imposed by society itself.
All the soundtracks were composed by Carlo Leoni through a live audio jack (on site) and digitally post-produced or through compositions in studio using both elements of electroacoustic music triggered with NI - Absynth and of contemporary music symphonic orchestra.

Carlo Leoni è nato a Roma nel 1965, dove tuttora vive e lavora.
Nel 2002 ha iniziato la sua esperienza nel campo della video-arte dapprima con la tecnologia analogica per poi passare recentemente a quella digitale HDV realizzando diversi lavori dedicati allo studio della luce e alla contestualizzazione dell’individuo nell’ambito della societa' con evidenti influssi Post-Human Art.
L’elemento umano rientra in una visione concettuale molto più ampia ed esprime la relazione tra uomo e società, dalla nascita all’evoluzione di se stesso, nel tentativo di superare i limiti ed i condizionamenti imposti dalla società stessa.
Tutte le colonne sonore sono state composte da Carlo Leoni, o attraverso una presa diretta audio (in loco) e Post-Prodotta digitalmente o mediante composizioni in studio che utilizzano, sia elementi della musica elettroacustica triggherati con NI - Absynth, sia elementi dell’orchestra sinfonica di musica contemporanea.

The project "Molecules of light" as a result of an experiment on light seen through the careful and sensitive eye of the video camera, continues with the making of this video that is entirely dedicated to the triad of moon, sea and sun.
These elements merge with the light passing through them, completely losing their material features and creating very special effects. In this way light reveals its vital energy, through the birth of a human life.

Il progetto "Molecole di luce" quale risultato di una sperimentazione sulla luce vista dall'occhio attento e sensibile della videocamera, prosegue con la realizzazione di questo video dedicato interamente alla triade luna, mare e sole. Tali elementi diventano tutt'uno con la luce che li attraversa annullando completamente il loro aspetto materico e creando effetti particolarissimi.
In questo modo la luce manifesta la sua energia vitale, attraverso la nascita di una vita umana.

This is the result of an experiment on light seen by the careful and sensitive eye of the video camera. The typologies shown in the video, particularly related to the elements of nature, are: the headlights of cars, the leaves of trees, the waves of the sea.
These three elements become one with the light passing through them completely losing all their material aspects and creating very special effects, almost looking like a rhythmic frenzy of viable cells; and among them, only one human cell appears, evolving from the embryo stage and its primitive condition and trying to eliminate the membrane surrounding it.

E' il risultato di una sperimentazione sulla luce vista dall'occhio attento e sensibile della videocamera. Le tipologie esposte nel video, legate soprattutto agli elementi della natura, sono: ...i fari delle automobili ...le foglie degli alberi ...le onde del mare.
Tutti e tre questi elementi diventano un tutt'uno con la luce che li attraversa annullando completamente il loro aspetto materico e creando effetti particolarissimi quasi a sembrare una frenesia ritmica di cellule vitali e, tra di esse appare, unica, una cellula umana che dallo stato embrionale si evolve dalla sua condizione primigenia e tenta di liberarsi dall'involucro che la circonda.

A tube of concrete left in a fallow field.
The tube as a remnant of our society made up of goods, money, wealth: symbols of social stratification typical of our consumerism.
This tube becomes a magical place where everything rises, changes, regresses, is deformed and dies.
The video, which has deep primitive values, brings us back to our molecular origin and evolution, in a place where the complexity of a body has the same value as a single molecule.

Un tubo di cemento abbandonato in un campo incolto.
Un tubo come residuo della nostra società fatta di beni, di soldi, di benessere: simboli di una stratificazione sociale tipica del nostro consumismo.
Questo tubo diventa un luogo magico dove tutto nasce, si trasforma, regredisce, si deforma e muore.
Il video, che ha profonde valenze primigenie, ci riporta all’origine e all’evoluzione molecolare, in un luogo ove la complessità di un corpo ha la stessa valenza di una singola molecola.

Geomelodies shows, in an emblematic and indefinite space, geometric forms in primary and then gradually psychedelic colors following one another in constructive swirls and unexpected mixes, driven by a sonic and aesthetic energy that shapes them.
The forms are generated, multiplied, aggregated, scattered, transmuted, evoking the tragicomic tangle of life, alternating pre-established models with experimentation of possible multiples before dissolving into an absolute whiteness.

Geomelodies mette in scena, in uno spazio emblematico e indefinito, forme geometriche dai cromatismi primari e via via psichedelici che si susseguono in turbinii costruttivi e inattese mescolanze, incitate da un’energia modellatrice sonora ed estetica.
Le forme si generano, si moltiplicano, si aggregano, si sparpagliano, trasmutano, evocando il tragicomico garbuglio della vita, alternando modelli assegnati a sperimentazioni di multipli possibili fino a dissolversi in un bianco assoluto.

A line develops and marks its surrounding space in search of a composition strategy: it multiplies, enlarges, stretches increasing its size up to create more and more complex shapes.
It invades all the space around striving to expand further, yet it will go all the way back, forced by a representation limit, to its simple and basic initial state.

Una linea si articola e delimita lo spazio circostante alla ricerca di una strategia compositiva: si moltiplica, si dilata e si allunga aumentando le sue dimensioni fino a comporre forme sempre più complesse.
Riesce a occupare tutto lo spazio circostante ma vuole andare oltre fino a che, costretta da un limite rappresentativo, intraprende un processo inverso che la riporterà al semplice e essenziale stato iniziale.

La Trama Invisibile

Through images, this video aims at exploring an area on the border between art and science.
This representation takes place indirectly through a game of layers of images with clear dreamlike significance.
They dissolve and intersect with each other, creating a continuous space-time fragmentation so that more visual elements can coexist in the same sequence.
The elements disappear and reappear in their space-time becoming. The concept that reality "is and is not" emerges as well as subatomic particles, which emit energy in their decay and then disappear again, they "are and are not”.

Il video vuole esplorare attraverso le immagini un territorio al confine fra arte e scienza.
Tutto ciò nel video è rappresentato in modo indiretto tramite un gioco di stratificazioni delle immagini dalla chiara valenza onirica.
Esse si dissolvono e si intersecano l'una con l'altra, creando una continua frammentazione spaziotemporale e facendo convivere simultaneamente più elementi visivi in una stessa sequenza. Gli elementi svaniscono e riappaiono nel loro divenire spaziotemporale.
Emerge la concezione che la realtà "è e non è", così come le particelle subatomiche, che nel decadere emettono energia per poi svanire di nuovo, "sono e non sono".
